What type of metal do you use?
All of my pieces are crafted with sterling silver unless specified otherwise. Upon custom request as well as the occasional collection I work with 10-18k gold. For my welded jewelry line I carry sterling silver, 10-14k gold fill, 10-14k yellow gold. As a vintage collector, Katie often sources stainless steel elements to solder onto such as safety pins, keys, and bottle openers.
What is your return and repair policy?
Velvet Moss does not allow returns only exchanges. All sales are final. Repairs are done on a case by case basis. Every piece designed and made by Velvet Moss will be repaired fee free upon evaluation within 30 days. After this 30 day window all repairs will require assessment to evaluate how much work the repair will require and proper compensation will be needed. Any jewelry not made by Velvet Moss will also be evaluated or assessed to determine if Katie’s skill set and machinery allows her to properly repair your piece with confidence.
Do you make custom pieces?
Yes, in fact this is a huge portion of Katie’s work as she loves assisting folx in creating personalized magic for them or a loved one. Typical lead time is 3-5 weeks unless a sooner date is determined upon within communication. All customs require 20% to full payment as a non refundable deposit for time, work and consultation. What does made to order mean?
MTO is based on every incoming order made with a lead time of 2-4 weeks unless specified otherwise in the description.
How do I find out my ring size?
Every local jeweler shop will size you for free or come visit Katie at an event and she can size you! Velvet Moss does not recommend using online sizers or measuring with string. The same methods are suggested for bracelet sizing as well as necklace lengths, get measured somewhere local to you or visit Velvet Moss at a market. Please note the thicker mm of ring will require sizing up, many of my rings use a thick band which will be noted in description, size accordingly.

A primary focal point explores themes of connection, creating moments and objects that help facilitate the power of interconnectedness. She works both large (for jewelry) and small scale, finding balance in the extremes. Katie hopes to honor sculpture work by building intricate pieces by hand from precious scrap metals. She mainly works in sterling silver, dabbling in gold when optional. Katie sees nature and man as one and the merging of natural materials within her work allows her to find balance in life.
